San Diego Surf Forecast 🌡️

Week of July 27th

Welcome to this week’s edition of The Sunday Stoke! Where we stick to the surf like sunscreen on your nose 🧴👃

Swell Summary 🌊 The workweek kicks off with the smallest surf in recent weeks, as both NW windswell and Southern Hemi energy hit a lull—barely enough for groms or longboards. A modest new S swell begins to fill in Friday (August 1), with improved, fun-size waves expected through the weekend, particularly for breaks with good southern exposure. A more significant run of SSW swell is on the horizon for early next week, kicking off around August 5.

Blue = Poor | Green = Average | Orange = Good

North County Report 🌊

Report powered by Surfline Premium. Spot Check: Swamis

Best Bet ✅ Far North county has the best chance for size next weekend. Worth making the trek to Trestles this time of year.

Worst Bet ❌ Monday morning (July 28)—with barely any swell in the water, most breaks will be nearly flat and unsurfable for all but micro-groms or logs.

South County Report 🌊

Report powered by Surfline Premium. Spot Check: Blacks

Best Bet ✅ Saturday morning (August 2)—new S swell shows more size and consistency, making South County beachbreaks and reefs the best call for waist- to chest-high surf.

Worst Bet ❌ Early week (Monday/Tuesday) have highest chance for smaller, wobbly surf.

Wave Recommendations 🎯

  1. Trestles OVERALL

  2. Oceanside Harbor NORTH COUNTY

  3. Imperial Beach SOUTH COUNTY

Tides & Sunrise/Sunset 🌅

Dawn patrol is mostly drained out this week. Mid-morning will have the most ideal tides. Just depends if it’s blown out by then or not.

Wind Radar 🌬️

Generally light morning winds with some slight texture followed by onshore conditions most afternoons. The weekend could host calmer conditions all day.

Weather Outlook ⛅️

Trending sunnier and I’m betting the marine layer will burn off earlier in the day (mid-morning) like it did today!

Water Temperature 🌡️ 69°F 😅

Slightly cooler than last week but still feeling pretty darn good for San Diego!

What’s Happening at the Beach?! 🏖️

Did you Know? 🌎️

In San Diego, summer swells don’t just bring surfers — they sometimes bring jellyfish too! 🦠 Warm water currents can carry these squishy drifters closer to shore, so keep an eye out in the line-up! See what beaches jellyfish hang out most.

Surf Footage of the Week 📹️

I’ve never tried foiling but could be fun to float effortlessly…. ☁️

Sponsorship Sessions🏄‍♂️

When the swell is down + the water is warm; nothing beats cruising with a little extra volume!
