San Diego Surf Forecast 🌡️

Week of June 8th

Welcome to this week’s edition of The Sunday Stoke! Where we track the swell tighter than a wetsuit!

Swell Summary 🌊 A fun mix of small SSW and NW swells starts the week, with clean morning conditions and waist- to chest-high waves—best in North County. A solid long-period SW swell builds Tuesday and peaks Tuesday into Wednesday, bringing chest to head-high+ surf with potential overhead sets at standout breaks. Conditions get more mixed later in the week, but another larger SSW swell builds for the weekend, peaking on Saturday (June 15) with head-high surf and possible overhead sets at top spots.

North County Report 🌊

Report powered by Surfline Premium. Spot Check: Swamis

Best Bet ✅ Tuesday morning is the call—long-period SW swell peaks with clean conditions and head-high+ sets, especially at North County point and reef breaks.

Worst Bet ❌ Thursday morning is likely a mess, with peaky but jumbled swell and stronger SE winds making for crumbly, inconsistent conditions at most breaks

South County Report 🌊

Report powered by Surfline Premium. Spot Check: Blacks

Best Bet ✅ Not going to be exceptional in the far Southern part of the county so sticking to a consistent break like Blacks will be your best bet.

Worst Bet ❌ Thursday morning looks rough—southerly winds will add chop to the beach breaks, and the mixed swell will feel disorganized, especially at spots like Imperial Beach or Coronado.

What’s Happening at the Beach?! 🏖️

Did you Know? 🌎️

Since 2016, the popularity of surf foiling has soared—growing over 400% in gear sales globally by 2022. Pioneered by watermen like Kai Lenny, foiling has opened up a whole new realm of riding, letting surfers glide on tiny waves that would barely move a longboard. In San Diego, spots like Mission Bay and Cardiff Reef have become go-to foil zones, especially on small days when traditional surfers stay dry!
