San Diego Surf Forecast 🌡️

Week of September 28th

Welcome to this week’s edition of The Sunday Stoke! Where we throw shakas 🤙 to say hello..

Swell Summary 🌊 Welcome back waves!

This week in San Diego delivers a solid run of surf with overlapping S/SSW swells from both the tropics and Southern Hemisphere, plus a modest NW swell for shape. Most summer breaks run chest to head-high with standout spots pushing overhead at times, before easing midweek into playful, peaky surf. Mornings bring the cleanest windows before afternoon onshores build in.

Blue = Poor | Green = Average | Orange = Good

North County Report 🌊

Report powered by Surfline Premium. Spot Check: Ponto

Best Bet ✅ Showing most size Carlsbad-ish and North. If you prefer smaller surf, stay South.

Worst Bet ❌ Missing what is likely the last major S swell before winter.

South County Report 🌊

Report powered by Surfline Premium. Spot Check: Windansea

Best Bet ✅ Tuesday morning, Sept 30, with overhead sets still lingering, clean AM winds, and plenty of swell in the water.

Worst Bet ❌ Afternoons after the wind shifts W/WNW, when texture and bump will spoil otherwise good waves.

Skip the parking hassle and cruise straight to the break — Ho Stevie’s bike racks make carrying your board a breeze 🚲️ Built by a San Diego local, they’re the easiest way to ride to the waves like a true local.

Wave Recommendations 🎯

  1. Trestles OVERALL - Firing early week, calling for 8ft sets on Monday

  2. Ponto Jetties NORTH COUNTY - will be primo early week

  3. Windansea SOUTH COUNTY - Good reef to check this week

Tides & Sunrise/Sunset 🌅

Early high tides but not too full which could both set up beach breaks to not close out and allow swell to carry through reef breaks.

Wind Radar 🌬️

Light winds in the morning setting up good conditions but still manageable most afternoons as well.

Weather Outlook ⛅️

Classic ‘Fall’ weather in SD this week

Water Temperature 🌡️ 66°F 😅
